Start with the office for the property's address. The official portal shows the permit's current status, inspections and documents.
Find the permitting authority
Check whether the address is inside Brooksville, which issues its own permits. Otherwise the permit belongs to Hernando County Building Division.
Open the official permit search
Open Hernando County Permit Application Status and Property Search Portal, which runs on Tyler EnerGov Self Service. View current permit status, search property history by owner, address, key number or parcel ID, and look up contractors; contractors schedule inspections here.
Search by address or permit number
Search with the street address or the permit number where the portal offers those fields, then open the record for its status, inspections and documents.
Ask the office about older records
If a permit is missing online, ask Hernando County Building Division (352-754-4050) how to request it. Older permits are not always in online systems.
