Step by step
How to search permits in Sarasota County.
Start with the office for the property's address. The official portal shows the permit's current status, inspections and documents.
Find the permitting authority
Check whether the address is inside Sarasota, North Port or Venice, which issue their own permits. Otherwise the permit belongs to Sarasota County Planning and Development Services.
Open the official permit search
Open Sarasota County Accela Citizen Access (online permitting), which runs on Accela Citizen Access. Search Building and other applications, look up property and licensees, run a public records search and schedule inspections; registering unlocks applying.
Search by address or permit number
Search with the street address or the permit number where the portal offers those fields, then open the record for its status, inspections and documents.
Ask the office about older records
If a permit is missing online, ask Sarasota County Planning and Development Services (941-861-5000) how to request it. Older permits are not always in online systems.
