Step by step
How to search permits in Leon County.
Start with the office for the property's address. The official portal shows the permit's current status, inspections and documents.
Find the permitting authority
Check whether the address is inside Tallahassee, which issues its own permits. Otherwise the permit belongs to Leon County Development Support and Environmental Management (DSEM).
Open the official permit search
Open Leon County Accela Citizen Access permit portal, which runs on Accela Citizen Access. Look up property information and search building, development, environmental, code compliance and public works applications; schedule building inspections (registered account needed to apply or request inspections).
Search by address or permit number
Search with the street address or the permit number where the portal offers those fields, then open the record for its status, inspections and documents.
Ask the office about older records
If a permit is missing online, ask Leon County Development Support and Environmental Management (DSEM) (850-606-1300) how to request it. Older permits are not always in online systems.
Municipalities
Leon County cities
and their permits.
A city that runs its own building department issues permits inside its limits, and its records are in the city's portal, not the county's.
City of Tallahassee
City Growth Management (850-891-7001) handles Land Use and Environmental Services, Commercial Building and Sub-Trade permits through the City of Tallahassee Permit Portal; the TLC Permits site routes city vs. county parcels.
