Step by step

How to search permits in Bay County.

Start with the office for the property's address. The official portal shows the permit's current status, inspections and documents.

Bay County Portal permit search

  1. Find the permitting authority

Check whether the address is inside Panama City, which issues its own permits. Otherwise the permit belongs to Bay County Building Safety Division.

  2. Open the official permit search

Open Bay County Portal permit search. Apply for building permits and search active permits; the county posts a PDF guide to the search.

  3. Search by address or permit number

Search with the street address or the permit number where the portal offers those fields, then open the record for its status, inspections and documents.

  4. Ask the office about older records

If a permit is missing online, ask Bay County Building Safety Division (850-248-8350) how to request it. Older permits are not always in online systems.
